book reading procrastination

Ever since I graduated in 2006, I’ve found it difficult to pick up a book. It has been about two years since I purchased An American Tragedy, and I’m barely half way through it — I don’t think I will ever finish it. Before that I think I was reading Catch-22, and I only read half of it before giving up on it. Then whenever I get the urge to buy another book, I decide not to make another purchase because I tell myself that I should first read the books I already have, then I can get another book. But since it looks like I’ve given up on these books, I may be doomed to live the remainder of my life without books.

Edit:

I forgot to mention that the only way I’ve digested books is in audio form.  I heard books 2-7 of the Harry Potter series, and also Memoirs of a Geisha.  However, I’m hesitant to purchase any more audio books, as the last one I bought through Audible.com was a total dud.  It’s like after listening to Jim Dale read the Harry Potter series, I’ve become accustomed to hearing only outstanding audio performances, and nothing less than this will do.
